The Department of Home Affairs assesses partner visa applications across four categories of evidence. You should provide evidence in each category.
1. Financial Aspects
- Joint bank accounts or joint financial commitments
- Joint ownership of property or assets
- Joint liabilities (loans, mortgages)
- Evidence of financial support between partners
2. Nature of Household
- Evidence of shared residence (lease agreements, utility bills)
- Statements about household arrangements
- Evidence of shared responsibilities
3. Social Aspects
- Evidence that you are recognised as a couple by family and friends
- Statutory declarations from people who know you as a couple
- Photos together at social events
- Joint travel history
4. Commitment
- Length of the relationship
- Knowledge of each other’s personal circumstances
- Future plans together
- Evidence of communication if living apart
